Mexico’s First Female President Overshadowed by López Obrador's Influence

PERSONAL PROJECT

In Mexico, under the leadership of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, government aid initiatives like scholarships are celebrated as helping the people, yet reveal a paradoxical reality. While scholarships are awarded, students find themselves paying for education that should be free—covering tuition, mandatory uniforms, books, and even school supplies like soap and paper. Similarly, elderly citizens receive government assistance, but face a dire lack of medications in public hospitals, forcing them to purchase expensive drugs with the aid intended to support them. This irony persists as citizens, grateful for immediate financial relief, continue to support López Obrador and the Morena party, prioritizing present-day financial assistance over the promise of a more prosperous future.
